BACKSTAGE

By the time we get to performance night, a lot of work has already been done - and continues to be done throughout the show via the many members who prefer not to be seen but are still happy to take part.

So let's follow the backstage story.........

Once a show has been chosen and a producer decided upon, the first step in the story is the selection of the cast...........who then proceed to learn their lines.

Meanwhile, the stage crew start work to convert a blank canvass into scenes suitable for the show........

...........

Whilst those responsible for sound and lights, begin to make their preparations

Costumes have to found.... and fitted, and props collected together. Both time consuming tasks especially if new outfits have to be produced.

Whilst members of the cast are busy learning their lines

Posters need to be produced and circulated around the village, and a programme needs to be put together naming all the cast and all the backstage workers!

And, come the night of the show, makeup has to be applied to the faces of the performers to make them look their best - not always an easy task.

But once complete, the show can go on!

Of course, that isn't all that the backstage staff do........... there are ticket sales, manning the box office, running the raffle and refreshments (not forgetting ice creams).

And once the show is finished there is the matter of disassembling the stage area and putting all the costumes and props away for another show.

But it is fun! So if you fancy helping out, why not contact us -you'll be very welcome!
